The human foot is a combination of bones,
muscles, ligaments, and tissue that form one of the most flexible
and durable structures in nature.
The foot is composed of twenty six bones
that function as a spring when you step, and a support when you
stand. There are thirty three joints, connections where bones
meet.
The foot also contains over 100 ligaments,
flexible fiber bands that join bones. Tendons, tough fibers,
connect muscles to bones. The muscles move the foot by contracting,
which pulls tendons which in turn moves the connected bone.
